I'm happy for them to have proven their critics wrong, having been labelled as ageing stars thought to be past their expiry date. Still, it doesn't make the disappointment of South Korea's first round exit any easier to bear.

I think France has got a really good chance of winning this World Cup....if they can triumph over Germany's advantage of having home support.

My new Hero: Portugese goalkeeper Ricardo, 30

He saved 3 goals during the penalty shootout against England, putting Portugal thru to the semifinal stage. Woo hoo Ricardo!
