Yo peeps! I've changed my blogkin.

Instructions on how to enjoy viewing this blog:
1) Yes, i chose a jake gyllenhaal skin cos i like the guy's eyes.
2) Please ignore the 'he asked me out' thing. Those are just decorative marks on the splendid picture of jake gyllenhaal.
3) No, i did not change my blogskin only now because i got dealt a heavy emotional blow by Brokeback and Brokeback changed my life.
4) Ok, so I did get dealt a big emotional blow by Brokeback and Brokeback did change my life but i've changed my blogskin cos i've wanted to change it since sch started (to make a fresh start to the year) and i happen to be procrastinating right now so i've finally found the time to look for skins.

All serious films are so depressing. Cos they protray realities in the world that we never saw or chose to ignore. Take Brokeback. Or the Piano. Or The misfits, which is was reading abt last night. If i become a filmmaker next time, i would like to make films about the human/Singaporean condition but i dun really want to cos i dun tink i have the emotional endurance to carry it through. Arrgh. It would be simpler to make comedies but that would not be being true to myself.

The song spinning in my head right now is Otsuka Ai's Daisuki Da yo. It reminds of KISS' Because i'm a girl. My 2nd fave song of the moment is Rain's Sad Tango. I saw his mtv twice in thre same hr on diff tv channels. It's catchy and...he's cute with his boyish looks and surprisingly low voice.

Brokeback's the da best. I just finished the book today. Thanks Shuang Han for lending it to me. Wat can i say? I wanna watch it again! It's this kind of films that make me glad i'm choosing to do film.

The Keys to Your Heart
You are attracted to good manners and elegance.
In love, you feel the most alive when your partner is patient and never willing to give up on you.
You'd like to your lover to think you are loyal and faithful... that you'll never change.
You would be forced to break up with someone who was insecure and in constant need of reassurance.
Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything... no secrets.
Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.
You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.
In this moment, you think of love as something you can get or discard anytime. You're feeling self centered.

How You Are In Love
You fall in love quickly and easily. And very often.
In relationships, you tend to be a bit selfish.
You tend to get very attached when you're with someone. You want to see your love all the time.
You love your partner unconditionally and don't try to make them change.
You stay in love for a long time, even if you aren't loved back. When you fall, you fall hard.

I watched Brokeback Mountain yesterday with jan. I was very distracted by the cold in the cinema and i was very tired so i didn't really focus on the movie. I WANNA WATCH IT AGAIN!!! When i'm more awake. Preferably in the day (we caught the 9.30pm show ytd).

When i left the cinema, i didn't feel much. I tot it was just ok. But for some inexplicable reason, i woke up today and thought that it was actually incredibly sad and the gloom from the movie was like a perpetual clamp on my heart. I even tried to comfort myself that i'm much better off than the characters cos i dun have that kind of relationship troubles (heck! i'm not even in a relationship!). But it went away after i spoke abt it to my sister and mc. Thanks for listening folks... And jan seems to be surrounded by Brokeback fans O_O

There's a whole list of movies i wanna watch!!! Walk the line, Syriana, the constant gardener, north country.

Spoke a lot abt life and love with my sis. Looks like she's the only one in this world i can be really honest wif. Not that i can't do that with my friends but...do they want me to? Are they uncomfortable? Do we think abt the same kind of things? Are they just waiting for me to open up my heart first before they open theirs?

I like to think abt things cos i feel that these thoughts give my life a sense of direction or at least give me a system by which i can govern my life. So it's impt to tink abt life "things" once in a while.

So strange. I've used think and feel side by side. Like they are related when they are not. To feel is to think with your heart; to think is to feel with your brain.

I shall try to be nicer to my dad.

Love works in mysterious ways. Just look at brokeback mountain.

Review on Brokeback Mountain

"I wish i knew how to quit you!"
"Then why don't you?"

I tink it's worth watching. If you're looking to feel sad. Ok, ok, it's just a show.

Well the actors were ok. But i must applaud them for the intimate scenes. My gosh. How hard is it to act they they're hot for each other when they are both straight?!!! This show 真的不好演. At least for the actors. Heath ledger didn't act that well...partly cos his character is the more repressed guy and hence the harder role. I tot his western accent was quite convincing but jake gyllenhaal had no accent to speak of. Anne Hathaway was pretty unsuitable for her role. She's too young! She had to portray a character from her 20s to her 40s and her makeup and bad platinum blonde marilyn- monroe-perm wigs didn't help. I had trouble understanding their dialogue because of the slang they use. Not very layman-friendly.

The movie had plenty of nice shots of Wyoming.

And jake gyllenhaal has nice blue eyes.

I tink the pace was just nice. Slow enough for the audience to think abt the show but not too slow. And the soundtrack is very nice! That guitar strings-sound was very haunting and sad.

Arggh. I felt vey pek for the 2 characters. Haiz. i feel that Ennis (Heath) didn't cherish Jack (Jake) when he was still around. And i question how can Ennis live every day knowing that the one he loves is somewhere out there and he is like kliving with someone whom he's just ok with.

Ok. It's a very irritating word. Many people just live their lives being ok, just taking wat was alright/acceptable. Or am i one of the few pple who are asking & dreaming for the impossible?

One very sad part was when Ennis & Jack parted after the summer on the Brokeback. Ennis felt so terrible inside that he thought he had to puke that he felt like puking to make himself feel better. But nothing came out cos his ailment wasn't physical at all. It was cardio. I mean, in the heart. There wasn't really a saddest part. I tink the effect of the film was in the culmination of its often fragmented parts. (The film feels fragmented cos every few scenes, time would fast forward and the guys will be sporting moustaches or longer/greyer sideburns. Actually they don't look that old. At 40, Ennis looks only a couple of years older than his 18 yr old daughter.) The makeup wasn't very well done but i get the sense of the passage of time.... but that was a slight no-no for me.

The sex scene btwn the men was brief and not graphic at all. But the actors were really convincing.
And don't forget their classic exchange: "I wish i knew how to quit you!" "Then why don't you?" Haiz....they could have been together but ennis refused, giving in to societal expectations instead. See lah. Then jack die liao den regret. You pok!

What grips abt this movie is how the love btwn Ennis & Jack ruins them and their families. At first i didn't understand how the men could like each other. But i guess being lonely on the mountain, away from other pple, away from civilization, there's only the two of you there....Maybe they just saw each other as companions, not as another guy. (Cos they weren't gays to start with). The pain and loneliness of being away from your love; waiting for you next meeting; meeting only once every few weeks.. (Jack was so desperate for contact he had to go to Mexico to find male prostitutes!) Ennis' wife, Alma, actually saw them making out! My god. One can only imagine how she felt. I feel so sad for them i feel like crying. I just feel very 可惜 and 心痛 for them. Arrgh. Arrgh. Arggh. Keeping their pain inside me is so suffocating.

i didn't like the film technically. I mean, its story & premise is good but sth is missing from the film, i feel.

Damn i gotta watch Brokeback again. i'll watch it again and tell you what the missing ingredient is.

Read this well-written review of the movie by a movie-goer:
http://movies.yahoo.com/mvc/dfrv?mid=1808403312&rvid=255-612401&i=0&nn=1&spl=0&ys=Ww3i.6yE.0vSSGkoCNBUNQ--

I read this interview with Lee Ang and he said he didn't like stroyboards. He felt that film shud be sth more intangible than that and it should not be built from still pictures. And i agree. Cos i can't draw. Cos a film is abt capturing the moment. He says that a good director is a person who can successfully convey his imagination to the audience. Which i agree as well.

I like the shot of the mountain slope in the movie which taken behind jack, with his backview when he was lying on the ground like that.

Nooooo!!!!! How can Ennis marry the girl?!!!

Jake gyllenhaal looks shuai here. This photographer knows how to choose his camera angle. Cos i tink jake gyllenhaal looks only o-kay if you look at him head-on from the front.

Rain is cute.

Baofei's bunch of one-liners for the week:

This week was a busy one for me.

I slept less than 4 hrs on wed & thurs night.

I tink i might like this guy in my course.

My WAH (Western Art History. We call it WAH) tutorial changed my perspective of the world a bit more. It made me consciously challenged the way i tink and view the world and why it is so.

I like a guy whom i can learn things from.

I like my course.

I think that teens nowadays feel suppressed.

I agree with jan. It is discipline that sees u thru the hard times (at work), not passion. Cos passions can change.

I tink that j-pop suits my taste better. (Orange range & DAI!)

The XXYYZZ made me ready to face anything/anyone. Nothing can be scarier than that experience.

I feel that i have grown up a little bit more this week.

I tink i might like my french teacher.

Finally found my drive for my work after one sem. I feel i am undertsanding drawing little bit more and i'm feeling encouraged to learn about colouring/painting. I feel that i've been so caught up in sch that i'm beginning to treat sch like sch, instead of a place to hone my craft. I feel like drawing more now. Yay!

勇敢地去爱!勇敢地去感受!まだ若いから。

It's the time of the month again...i'm getting horny again...grr...

I bought 'My tutor friend' recently. It's not that great. The middle part when the 2 leads start to like each other was nice to watch but the front and the ending was very draggy. I tink the 2 lead actors are very cute! Kwon Sang Woo very shuai! He can look fierce and tough but he can also look very cute when he smiles.
