I realised how much i missed ming choo & jan after the whoile gang went to watch jan's USC production. I missed the banter and the laughter whenever the 5 of us are together.

Congrats to jan on the completion of your production! After that night, i conclude that rotting at home really kills off ur brain cells. Your production was really a breath of fresh air for me after a long spell of staying at home/watch movies/go home/watch more tv at home.

I liked the boldness in the execution. The performers are brought literally to the audience. I liked the confidence and the effort that everyone took to interact with the audience. Being so close to the audience, it was really a test of skill for the performers cos the audience would surely be able to discern any mistakes. It was a brave step and ur team did well! And the lighting and stuff was good...though the sounds were a bit off sometimes. If it were a typical play or musical i would have been really bored. But your production really communicated the theme to the audience, which was good.

I liked it a lot, in that i can never expect what's gonna happen next. Esp the guy dancer who slid right in front of me!! wat the..!!(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) haha. *just kidding*. From the stomp! to the dance, to the band, each segment was interesting. Until the chorale part. Err...the singing was gd but the choreography and clothes weren't. And i would have gone up to dance at the disco part....if i had a boyfriend or sth. If not wat, dance by myself?!! -_-'''

All in all i really enjoyed myself. Though it was a bit short. But hey, it was short and sweet so that's good too!

Today my sis and i started rewatching My Lovely Sam Soon. The first time we watched the show, we devoured all 16 episodes of it in 3 days! I want to rewatch the show and slowly digest the plot as well as the characters. And observe the acting skills in the show. I want to slowly fall in love with Hyun Jin Hun (Hyun Bin's character) again =)

I am quite impressed with the standard of korean drama. Like, in "18 yr old bride", the couple really behave like they're in love, with their little expressions and actions and most importantly their chemistry. But i watch the current 9pm chn 8 show with Fann Wong and Chen Han Wei and faint. They act like they're friends..and they look like they know there's a camera filming them. I don't sense their chemistry at all. I think that they can't get rid of their inhibitions and they really look like they are 'acting'. And when the audience can tell that, that's bad.

I'd much rather watch Dae Jang geum. To anyone who watches DJG:

Wah today's episode very pek! The ah lie very evil! i felt like throwing sth at the tv cos she's very scheming and very very clever!

Stella's blog woke me up to some things i've never considered before. What's the crime in establishing a warm & loving family instead of having a glorious career? I'm not saying that dreams and ambitions are not good but i think having stable & loving relationships can be far more enriching than a career.

In accordance to my 'human life is so short compared to the earth' talk, my qn now is: what is the point of having a great career or making that 'great' movie or whatever? I feel that what really matters to me more as a human being would be to spend quality time and building quality relationships with the pple who matter to me. And fulfilling little goals like learning to play the piano or learning to dance or tour europe.

The Da Vinci Code movie was bad.

Not that i liked the book. The concept of the book was intriguing but i found the plot and prose lacking.

I'm waiting for my sis to come home so we can watch 'My Lovely Sam Soon' together. 'My Lovely Sam Soon' is a korean drama. It's pretty funny...and i enjoy watching the leads bicker! haha.

I realise i'm falling bit by bit into the korean culture wave but oh well....i used to be really enthusiastic abt j-pop back when i started liking in sec sch. But now, even i realise that this is just a phase for me....

Last time i like japanese language a lot. Now i'm starting to like korean as well. But....i feel that at the end of the day i still prefer.....whatever i was speaking in the first place. English? Mandarin? Singlish? One of these lah.

After my recent Taipei trip, i feel that i have grown up a bit more. Like, i'm getting a bit more sure of myself. No more shying away and avoiding eye contact with strangers. Becoming a bit more assertive of my wishes. I think this was born from my having to navigate and survive in a foreign country. There's no mother to hide behind, no adult to tell you how to do things, no one to govern how u spend ur $$$ (haha). I had to ask the shop keepers for the size i want, try to bargain prices, basically do things myself and express what i want to other pple. I used to be scared of shopkeepers and service pple. But now, i'm alright with them.

Astronomy is pointless. Its laws are basically postulations of scientists that are proven to be true within a margin of error. It is based on science, on physical evidence, physical observations. But physical observations are limited. There is only so much zoom u can apply to a telescope, any telescope. Anyway, so what if u can prove the size or age of the universe? All this is just observation. They don't answer the qn of why the universe exists, how it came to be and who made it. And Big Bang is just a theory that is supported by physics laws. It's not really true. I mean, who really knows what happened 14 billion yrs ago or whatever yrs ago that scientists had estimated when the universe was allegedly formed. And, is this universe the only universe? We don't freaking know, not with the standard of today's technology. Our technology might get to the point where we are able to know more concretely abt our universe but right now, we have only unlocked a small corner of the physicality of our universe.

According to a BBC video on space and the universe, humans are about to be wiped out real soon by extraterrestrial objects floating about in space. This is not that improbable because it is observed that the sun is actually moving up and down and with it, our entire solar system (we revolve ard the sun, remember?). As we do so, we may move into areas of space where the density of extraterrerial bodies are higher and hence higher chances of attracting such objects toward us (due to the net gravitational pull of earth on them) Supposedly, every change in dominant species of the earth occurs once every 30 million yrs. And it has been 64 million yrs since dinosaurs died out. So humans don't have that much time left.

Is it so inconceivable and unacceptable for the human race to be wiped out? Human life is so fragile, what makes us think that we can survive on earth for millions of years? I feel that the study of science builds a false sense of ego on the part of humans. Just because we are able to observe and record and analyse Nature doesn't give us any hold over it. Oh, we can predict patterns and come up with laws and stuff. But at the end of the day, it's all guesswork. We can only track Nature but not change it. We can only react, not counteract. We are, in fact, at its mercy. We can take precautions against natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis and volcanic eruptions and save plenty of human lives, blah blah blah but we can never, never, NEVER stop them from occurring.

Recently i picked up Michael Crichton's book called 'State of fear'. It talks abt environmental pollution and how global warming is a theory and in fact, not happening at all. And this has been proven by scientists. A bunch of shocking info:
-Antarctic ice is increasing, reversing the melting trend [of Antarctic ice] for the last 6000 yrs
-Sea levels have not risen.
Even though carbon dioxide levels have risen since the last century (a trend attributed to industralisation)
-Average global temperatures are cooling at certain places but warming at others

These show proof that global warming is not as threatening as it is. Ok, i believe that pollution harms our environment, killing off animal and plant species for industrialisation is bad, etc but global warming...? i'm starting to have my doubts. On global warming, on astronomy, on everything proven by science, as well as the mass media and the concept of 'truth'.

Humans are always spinning in circles, caught up in our little little understanding of how the world works, never seeing beyond the glass jar. Right now, we are led to believe that we, being 'empowered' by science, are masters of our fates. But what we don't see is the glass jar which had been in place since the first human decided to trust in physical proof as the sole source of truth. Or even way back when Man was first made. Because we are made to be capable of thoughts and senses, we have been handicapped on the outset and unadequately-equipped in our quest for truth. We mythologise everything or we google everything. That's all we ever know, and all we can ever know. It's just the way it is.

The climate is a force of nature; it's been around for so long. Do you seriously think a bit of carbon dioxide is going to change it? Do you seriously believe that humans have that large an impact on the workings of Nature? (Or is that our scientific ego speaking?) For all we know, there may be forces controlling climate that we haven't even dreamt of!

In the event of, say an asteroid, hurtling towards Earth and threatening the existence of complex life, experts interviewed by the BBC suggest we either

a) blow it up with nuclear warheads (me: and what abt the nuclear waste that may or may not enter our atmosphere)

or

b) we attach rockets to it and swing it out of the path of the earth

or (i like this one a lot)

c) find a planet suitable for human life and move there.

Come on.


If an extraterrestrial body which is governed by God-only-knows laws of motion is heading for the Earth, do you think it is seriously within our power to stop it?

Not if we continue (which we always will) to view the world only with our senses, we won't.
